An Austen Afternoon: Glimpses into a family’s musical archive
Jane Austen loved music. A talented amateur who practiced the piano daily, she personally copied two volumes of music for her family’s collection. Get a glimpse of what an afternoon may have sounded like in Austen’s parlor, where family members and guests conversed to the sounds of everything from Handel and Haydn to country dances and drinking songs. Vignettes from 18th-century English life and readings from Austen’s own novels will be interspersed throughout.
