SFEMS Presents In Dulci Jubilo: The Aulos Ensemble with Julianne Baird
Join the musicians of Aulos and special guest soprano Julianne Baird as they celebrate their valedictory season—as well as the holiday season—with a festive concert of 16th through 18th century favorites in Aulos’ own transcriptions, including Alessandro Scarlatti’s Christmas Cantata, French noëls with musettes and rigaudons by François Couperin and Jean-Philippe Rameau, and a selection of arias by Johann Sebastian Bach, each with references to this special time of year.

Barefoot Chamber Concerts—Josquin des Prez (and friends): Songs and Instrumental Music
Andy Canepa, Peter Hallifax, Julie Jeffrey, Phoebe Jevtovic Rosquist and Shira Kammen combine their talents in a program of instrumental and vocal (mostly) secular masterpieces by the most famous of all Early Renaissance composers, in celebration of des Prez’ 500th birthday.

California Bach Society—Heinrich Schütz: Christmas Story and Holiday Favorites
The California Bach Society performs a festive concert of holiday favorites from around the world. The program will showcase the jubilant, seldom heard Christmas Story (Weinachtshistorie) by Heinrich Schütz, alongside a retrospective of favorites from its popular “Christmas Around the World” concerts, with songs and carols from many lands and many centuries.

San Francisco Bach Choir: A Candlelight Christmas in Nature
Artistic Director Magen Solomon leads the SF Bach Choir in their traditional and beloved candlelight concert, with music from Australia, England, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and America. Featuring Renaissance wind band The Whole Noyse and pianist Steven Bailey.

Young Women’s Chorus: Carols by Candlelight
The premier ensemble of YWCP, the Young Women’s Chorus, opens its season as a guest artist at Old First Concerts with a candle-lit concert that includes Benjamin Britten’s A Ceremony of Carols performed in full with harpist Meredith Clark, as well as music by Hildegard von Bingen, Rachmaninoff, Busto, Randall Thompson and many contemporary settings of traditional carols..
