SPECIAL EVENT: Quicksilver Baroque | Jan 14

In light of the current Omicron surge, Quicksilver Baroque has made the difficult decision to postpone their upcoming tour for “The (Very) First Viennese School”—including our concert in Berkeley scheduled for Friday, January 14.

The co-directors of Quicksilver, Robert Mealy and Julie Andrijeski, shared this statement:

“It is with heavy hearts that Quicksilver and SFEMS must postpone our January 14 concert due to Covid-19. We had been so looking forward to coming together again to make music in person for you, particularly in light of our newly released CD. The SFEMS community is very dear to all of us, and it wasn’t easy to make this decision. But we feel in the current climate with rising cases that we must proceed responsibly and with caution. We look forward to returning to play for you as soon as it is safe to do so. In the meantime we wish you continued health in these uncertain times and hope the joy of music can continue to sustain you as we know it will us.”

The (Very) First Viennese School

Long before Mozart graced the scene, Vienna enjoyed a thriving community of musical talent. The Holy Roman Emperors of the 17th century were great music lovers and connoisseurs who brought together virtuosos from Italy and native-born composers at their splendid court in Habsburg Vienna.

Join early music rock stars Quicksilver Baroque as they bring to life the sumptuous and emotionally extravagant music of (undeservedly) lesser-known masters such as Antonio Bertali, Johann Joseph Fux, Johann Caspar Kerll, Giovanni Legrenzi, Johann Rosenmüller, Johann Heinrich Schmelzer, and Romanus Weichlein.

Robert Mealy and Julie Andrijeski, violins and directors; Dominic Teresi, dulcian; David Morris, viola da gamba; Greg Ingles, sackbut; Charles Weaver, guitar and lute; Avi Stein, harpsichord and organ
