Information for Fringe Performers

One of the most exciting components of each Berkeley Festival is the Fringe — a series of self-produced concerts by individuals and ensembles from around the world. The Fringe offers a perfect opportunity for your ensemble to showcase its unique talents to a large and appreciative audience.

Fringe Registration

After reading the information below, you may register your show as part of the BFX Fringe 2014 by filling out the online Fringe Registration Form.

Determining a date and time

Fringe concerts can take place at any time during the dates of BFX 2014. However, to maximize attendance at both Mainstage and Fringe events, those which take place during Mainstage events will not be publicized by SFEMS. Avoid scheduling your event during any part of the following “blackouts” to maximize publicity and attendance:

—Sunday, June 1: 4pm-6pm
—Monday, June 2: 8pm-10pm
—Tuesday, June 3: 5pm-10pm
—Wednesday, June 4: 5pm-10pm
—Thursday, June 5: 5pm-11pm
—Friday, June 6: 5pm-10pm
—Saturday, June 7: 5pm-10pm
—Sunday, June 8: 4pm-6pm

Concert Venues

SFEMS provides a suggested venue list for Fringe performers. Please contact the venue directly to reserve your time and make payment arrangements.

Publicity Services

SFEMS, as producer of the 2014 Berkeley Festival, offers a range of services for individuals and groups wishing to present Fringe events. The services are optional and are available to everyone on a first-come, first-served basis.

Free to all registrants:

—Listing on the online Fringe Concert Calendar

Standard Publicity Services:

$60 before May 2nd; $90 May 3rd-June 1st

—Listing in the print Festival Program Booklet
—Listing in a Fringe Publicity Flyer to be posted throughout the area and available at Festival events
—Listing in press releases and public service announcements regarding the Fringe
—Expanded listing with photos in the online Fringe Concert Calendar

Premium Publicity Services:

$90 before May 2nd; $150 May 3rd-June 1st

—Everything included with the Standard Publicity Services, plus:
—A featured Facebook Event for your concert (including program description and color pictures) on the BFX 2014 Facebook page
—Listing (with program information and color pictures) in upcoming BFX 2014 Fringe e-mail blasts
—Expanded page for your event linked from the BFX 2014 Fringe Calendar, including performers’ bios, additional photos, etc.
—Online link to PDFs of full program, program notes, and any other information provided.

Please note that concert and program information received after May 9th, 2014 cannot be included in the Festival Program Booklet, Fringe publicity flyer, or press releases.
